Collection: GH's Best Books of 2024

Browse our Best Books of the Year!

Our first full year in business happened to be an incredible year for books. It began wildly strong with Kaveh Akbar's MARTYR!--our first-ever Book Club pick (can you tell I'm proud of that one?)--and continued with novels that wowed me, like Miranda July's ALL FOURS, Emma Copley Eisenberg's HOUSEMATES, and Kaline Bradley's THE MINISTRY OF TIME...oh and did you know Murakami published a new novel? Also, hard to top Martha Stewart's 100th book, Melissa Weller on bread-baking, and THE BEAN BOOK, the first cookbook from heirloom bean farm Rancho Gordo. My best of the best might be a reissue from 2004, published by small press Semiotext(e), Heather Lewis's bracing autobiographical novel, NOTICE. I'm barely scratching the surface, but you get the point: there were a lot of big books this year, but these are our favorites--the only criteria being that we liked them best. There's still time to order them before the end of the year--as holiday gifts, or perhaps for personal vacation reading. Enjoy!
